People living along waterways expect some rising water, rough surf over the weekend

High tides and flooding are expected along coastal areas, affecting people living near the water.

News4JAX went to see Doctors Lake Marina and saw the rising water firsthand.

“When the winds blow out of the northeast like they are doing for the last couple of days, the wind will blow the water off the river and stack it up in Doctors Lake,” Robert Jones, owner of Doctors Lake Marina, said. “When it quits blowing out of the northeast, then it will start to drain.”

Jones estimated the water level would be about a foot lower once the wind stops.

At Jacksonville Beach Pier, red flags were flying as a warning for rough waters.

A beachgoer noted, “It is going to be wavy, and you see the flags out.”
