BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) - Starting Oct. 6 in unincorporated Manatee County, the Big Bin Advantage will replace small residential garbage cans with a free, County-provided, standardized, 96-gallon rolling bin and automated trucks.
As a result, garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections will now be collected on the same day, once a week.
County officials say the change allows them to keep rates low with no increase.
They say that going to trash collection once a week instead of two days it will reduce traffic, improve worker safety, and enhance reliability for residents. The county says customers can keep their old garbage container for yard waste, or place a note on it that says, “Please Remove” if you’d like it disposed of by the haulers.
