SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A tropical wave near the Bahamas is slowly drifting west toward Florida. It is unlikely that it will develop into the next tropical cyclone due to strong upper level winds and proximity to Florida. It will move slowly toward Florida and then up the east coast or possibly even over land.
This system will bring some gusty winds on Saturday and a few more thunderstorms during Sunday afternoon and evening. There is another wave which has emerged off the coast of Africa which is moving toward the west at 20 mph and has a good chance of becoming our next named storm by mid week next week. The next name up is Jerry.
Long range models are suggesting a turn to the NW and then again to the the north like most of the storms this year. It will be something to watch next week
