An Edmonton teenager has been sentenced for his role in the "Project Gaslight" extortion scheme, with the judge finding that despite his youth, he was one of the "most active" members of the criminal conspiracy.
The 18-year-old man was 16 and 17 when he was part of a group that targeted successful South Asian home builders in the Edmonton area, burning their properties down when they didn't comply with demands for large amounts of money.
Because of his age at the time of the offences, he can't be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He pleaded guilty to five charges earlier this year, admitting that he was behind some of the extortion messages sent to business owners, and also set fires that damage
