A judge told the 19-year-old who admitted to killing his sister-in-law and his two young nephews inside their Northfield home in 2022 he has “a narrow path” to seek parole five decades from now.
On Friday, Merrimack County Superior Court Judge John Kissinger sentenced Eric Sweeney to 60 years to life for the second-degree murders of Kassandra Sweeney, 25, and her children, Benjamin, 4, and Mason, 1, in August 2022. He was 16 at the time.
“The murders of Kassandra, Benjamin and Mason were unimaginably brutal and heinous,” Kissinger said.
He also noted Sweeney’s “horrific early childhood” marked by physical and sexual abuse and severe neglect.
