LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Brightline West is seeking an additional $6 billion to complete its high-speed rail line from Las Vegas to Southern California.

The project, if completed, would connect Las Vegas to Rancho Cucamonga and could make the trip in under three hours.

In February, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said the project was on track and on budget. However, FOX5 has learned that Brightline has requested another $6 billion in federal funding, an increase from its previous $16 billion estimate.

FOX5 has reached out to Brightline for more information on the price increase.
