MINOT, ND (KXNET) — One orchestra is celebrating a milestone, and they're celebrating it with music. The Minot Symphony Orchestra is celebrating 100 years of bringing music to the Magic City.

The orchestra was founded in 1925, and over the years, it has brought together students, faculty, and professional musicians from North Dakota and across the U.S. to perform symphonic music for generations of people in the community.

Now, they're holding a milestone performance this weekend to celebrate.

Sean Neukom, the composer of this weekend's piece, has deep roots in Minot.

He graduated from Minot State University and said most of his family are also MSU alums. Neukom said this makes composing this milestone event even more special for him.
