HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - A relatively wet spring and summer season has turned to a dry fall across Central Pennsylvania, and that's prompting one orchard to take action.
"We've had to irrigate just to get sweet corn to germinate," John Strite of Strite's Orchard in Dauphin County said.
All of Pennsylvania is experiencing a rain deficit for the month of September.
The dry weather, however, has been beneficial for fall staples like apples and pumpkins.
"And the peaches, they tend to be more on the sweeter side [because] they don't have as much water in them," said Karen Paulus, Co-Owner of Mt Airy Orchards in York County.
