Flight operations continue as normal

Flight operations will continue as normal at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport even as many federal workers at the airport are not being paid during the federal government shutdown, which began Wednesday.

TSA officers, air traffic controllers and Federal Aviation Administration workers at the airport will not receive paychecks during the shutdown but will receive back pay whenever the government reopens.

Rep. Greg Stanton, Rep. Yassamin Ansari, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and Diane Rodriguez, representing the local TSA labor union, held a news conference at the airport Friday morning.
