A three-vehicle crash this afternoon left a pickup truck submerged in a pond and two other vehicles heavily damaged just south of city limits.

The collision happened around 2 p.m. at Amarillo Creek Parkway and Papago Road, 900 yards east of a major construction zone where the fast-growing Papago is being widened. The speed limit drops from 45 mph to 25.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and closed that entrance to the Amarillo Creek subdivision . Due to the construction, only one of three entrances to that neighborhood was accessible this afternoon.
