LEBANON, Ore. — Heath Stadium has been a fixture in Lebanon since 1957, hosting football games, graduations and countless community events. But the concrete bleachers that once held generations of fans are now cracked, dilapidated and fenced off for safety.
“It’s at the end of its life,” Lebanon High School principal Craig Swanson said.
The district is hoping a national contest can change that. Lebanon High is one of 25 finalists from around the country in T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights contest, which awards $1 million to replace or upgrade a high school football stadium. The program, launched last year, was designed to support small-town schools with fewer resources by enhancing game-day experiences and fueling community pride.
