MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Dyersburg mother is facing charges after being accused of leaving her two-year-old son at the service desk in a Cash Savers store and then hitting him on the back multiple times, according to Covington Police.
Lashona Johnson, 25, was charged with child abuse and neglect.
Police say a witness came to the department to report a child abuse incident she witnessed at a Cash Savers store located at 951 Hwy 5 on October 1.
Officers went to the grocery store and spoke with a manager who confirmed what happened.
The manager said staff saw a child left at the service desk, and when they announced on the intercom about the abandoned child, they said Johnson approached the desk 10 minutes later and said to her son, "You know I'm going to beat your a**, right?"
