CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - “I’d given up any dreams of becoming a part of an actual team again.”
But that quickly changed for SIU Junior, Zachary Overstreet. After an injury-ridden high school career as a basketball and track athlete at Anna-Jonesboro High School, he’s now a Salukis high jumper.
“I dealt with a ton of injuries in high school, from knee surgery to back problems and ankle issues, everything,” he said. “And I had pretty much scratched off any hope of ever, you know, making it to the next level.”
But when Overstreet was showing off his 47-inch vertical jump by dunking basketballs in the Rec Center in January, Jake Brydson had an idea.
