(NewsNation) — Popular GLP-1 prescription medications Ozempic and Wegovy will now be available at Costco for $499 a month.

The company that makes Ozempic and Wegovy, Novo Nordisk, announced Friday that the injectable pens will be sold at Costco pharmacies for a monthly out-of-pocket cost of $499. For Costco members who have insurance, the price will vary.

The medications are already available for $499 on Novo Nordisk's direct-to-consumer website, and the same deal is offered through CVS and Walmart, as reported by NBC News.

The announcement comes as GLP-1 weight loss medications gain popularity and more Americans turn to copycat versions due to high prices and shortages.
