Not even a fractured clavicle could keep 71-year-old Judy Silva away from opening day of the formal foxhunting season at Rochester’s Prodigue Farm.

With her arm in a sling, she wasn’t riding with the Wentworth Hunt, where she serves as president of the board. Instead, Silva and a handful of diehards followed along in their cars or on foot to watch as the hounds lowered their noses to the ground to find the scent, while horses and riders followed behind them.

Foxhunting got into Silva’s blood two decades ago.

“I had a couple of friends who did it and I thought they were crazy,” she said. “I tried it, and it was a whole lot of fun.”
