MADISON (WKOW) — Hundreds of people came together at McKee Farms Park on Sunday for the 2025 Walk to Defeat ALS Madison, an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support those living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that gradually robs people of their ability to walk, talk, swallow, and eventually breathe. The disease is always fatal, with most patients living only a few years after diagnosis.
The annual Walk to Defeat ALS is the world’s largest event focused on supporting ALS patients and their families. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the walk, which raised money for critical patient care, advocacy efforts, and research aimed at finding effective treatments and ultimately
