MADISON (WKOW) — A colorful altar on Madison's west side is turning heads for all the right reasons. Covered in candles, flowers, and photos, it serves as a place to remember loved ones and invites neighbors to celebrate life together.
Jessy Santigo and her family, who recently moved into the corner house, decided to put the altar outside.
"A woman that was just walking and she's just looking over here, she's like, 'What are you selling?' And I was like, 'I'm not selling anything, but come over here, I can show you what I do have,'" Santigo said.
In her yard, Santigo has signs explaining the tradition and encouraging people to come up and talk.
"It's a community achievement, because my neighbor next to me and then the other ones that live behind me, they came and helped," Santigo said.
