For the second time in 12 months, local charities are being disrupted by labour disputes at Canada Post.

For the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, Canada Post plays a vital role in delivering donations that keep the organization running.

Over the past year, more than 50 per cent of the food bank’s total donations were collected through mail deliveries from Canada Post. The organization is now facing issues collecting funds ahead of a second consecutive holiday season.

“We’re quite concerned,” said Kim Wilhelm, CEO of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. “Basically, from Thanksgiving to the new year is our largest season of giving, and now it’s a second year in a row we’re facing a postal strike.”
