Organizers of a “No National Guard in Portland” rally say they will gather at noon Saturday at Elizabeth Caruthers Park in the South Waterfront neighborhood and march to the nearby U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.
Last Sunday, midday rallies drew a few thousand people downtown and several hundred to the ICE facility in South Portland.
Saturday’s march and rally could coincide with the arrival of a federal judge’s opinion on whether to grant an order temporarily blocking President Trump’s mobilization of 200 Oregon National Guard troops to Portland’s immigration enforcement facility.
