Portland police on Saturday released the identity of the man who was shot by officers in the Mill Park neighborhood in September after he shot at the officers while they tried to apprehend him.

The man, 30-year-old Bryan Velasco-Ruelas of Portland, has yet to be charged with a crime. He remains in police custody in the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening and will be charged once he is released from the hospital and booked into jail, police said.

Two police officers shot Velasco-Ruelas on Sept. 20 at a gas station at Southeast 122nd Avenue and Division Street after he fired at them, according to a video of the incident released by police. Police had closed off several blocks in the area as they tried to apprehend him.
