Lutz Pfannenstiel is currently in Aberdeen amid the club's ongoing efforts to recruit a new director of football .

The German is set to hold talks with the Dons this weekend amid ongoing discussions with German giants Borussia Monchengladbach over their vacant sporting director position.

The Reds have upped the ante after the Bundesliga side made their move earlier this week following the 52-year-old's departure from St Louis City, reports Record Sport .

Pfannenstiel had previously declared his interest in the Pittodrie job, and has flown in for discussions with chairman Dave Cormack and chief executive Alan Burrows .
