The Brewers and Cubs will open a best-of-5 National League Division Series on Saturday, marking an unwelcome reunion for Cubs manager Craig Counsell.
The Brewers will have the home field advantage against the Cubs and Counsell, who has been booed lustily in Milwaukee ever since he left the rival team two years ago.
In clinching the National League Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres, the Cubs advanced with their first postseason series victory since 2017, the year after winning the World Series. Milwaukee, meanwhile, led the majors with 97 wins and won its second National League Central title in a row since Pat Murphy succeeded Counsel as manager.
The Cubs and Brewers will kick off the Division Series on Saturday, thanks to the New York Yankees beating the Boston Red Sox.
