GLENVAR, Va. (WDBJ) - A woman was injured in a dog attack Friday, October 3, according to Roanoke County officials.
Officials say a woman was walking her dog on Ingal Blvd in the Glenvar area when another dog attacked her. A neighbor called 911 and attempted to scare the dog by discharging his firearm in the air, but the dog continued to attack, according to officials. The neighbor was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm.
Officers arrived and attempted less lethal measures by tasing the dog, briefly scaring it off, according to officials. As officers were attempting to help the woman, the dog returned and tried to get around the officers to attack the woman again, according to officials. Officials say an officer made the decision to use lethal force by shooting the dog.
