Mark Sanchez is in the hospital after being stabbed in Indianapolis.

The former NFL quarterback, 38, was in the Indiana city on Friday, Oct. 3, when he was attacked, TMZ reported.

Sanchez was rushed to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition, according to the outlet.

Per TMZ, police received a call shortly after midnight local time to respond to two injured people. It is not currently clear what led to the stabbing attack.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) did not immediately repsond to PEOPLE's request for comment on Saturday, Oct. 4.

According to TMZ, Sanchez was in Indianapolis for a planned broadcast appearance with FOX Sports.
