Tripura Police registered a case and started search after a total of 18 Bangladeshi immigrants who entered the state illegally, escaped from a detention centre at Narsingarh in West Tripura district, said police today.
The detainees, aged between 18 to 40 years old, were arrested earlier for infiltrating the state without documents.
An official in Tripura Police said that the incident occurred when plans were made for deportation of the infiltrators.
The official added that the case was lodged on October 01 under Section 262 of BNS, a day after they fled from the detention centre.
The case was filed based on the complaint filed by the State Detention Centre under Social Welfare and Social Education Department.
