(KRON) — A 52-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Fairfield Friday.

The man was riding near the intersection of Noonan Lane and Cement Hill Road at about 6:45 p.m. when the crash occurred, according to the Fairfield Police Department. The man suffered major injuries from the crash and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Fairfield PD spokesperson Jennifer Brantley told KRON4 that speed may have been a factor in the crash, according to witnesses. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The roadway was closed in the area for roughly four hours as authorities investigated the crash.

Police are withholding the victim’s identity from the public at this time.
