WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A traffic stop in Herrin led to the arrest of two people on methamphetamine charges.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said their deputies stopped a GMC Yukon at 4:26 p.m. on October 2, 2025, for lacking visible registration and improper lane usage.

Authorities identified the driver as Steven Hilliard and passenger as James Wise.

Deputies said they discovered Wise had an active arrest warrant for failing to appear on a previous methamphetamine possession charge.

Upon his arrest, the sheriff's office said Wise was found with methamphetamine on him. K9 Roxy, also sniffed the vehicle for drugs.

The sheriff's office said a search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and a syringe. Both men were then taken into custody.
