SALT LAKE CITY — A young boy was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car while riding his bike in Pleasant Grove Friday evening.

Lt. Derick Shumway with the Pleasant Grove Police Department said an 8-year-old boy was riding his bike in front of Lincoln Academy at around 5:00 p.m. when he was struck by an SUV.

Following the incident, the boy was taken to Primary Children’s Hospital via Life Flight in critical condition.

Police said the driver involved is cooperating with police.

The roadway where the boy was hit will remain closed for the next few hours while police investigate.
