WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita Police say a man who walked away from the Wichita Work Release Facility Friday night and did not return has been taken into custody.

In a Facebook post, WPD shared that they found 55-year-old Kevin Vester “hiding out” in the 1500 block of S. Santa Fe.

Police said that Vester fled and an officer chased him down and tackled him.

Vester was taken to a hospital for treatment for possible shoulder and chest injuries. He was then turned over to the Kansas Department of Corrections once he was cleared.

The Kansas Department of Corrections said an inmate is at large after walking from the Wichita Work Release Facility.
