CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The West Virginia Democratic Party announced today the passing of former Delegate Marge Burke, a lifelong advocate for West Virginia’s agricultural community.
Serving in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1978 to 1996, Burke was the first chair of the West Virginia Women’s Legislative Caucus and the Majority Whip in the House.
An advocate for working families, Burke helped fight for child support legislation and was an unwavering supporter of 4-H, the Future Farmers of America, and rural youth development across the state.
Beyond her legislative career, Burke remained active in the Democratic Party.
