ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Halloween is coming up, and the Albuquerque BioPark is celebrating the festivities with a unique twist. Every week in October, the BioPark will spotlight a so-called "spooky" animal resident and separate fact from fiction, revealing why these misunderstood creatures are more fascinating than frightening.
It's a fact that these coastal dwellers are teh only shark species to come up to the surface to gulp air. They don't do this to breathe, though; they do it to float motionless in the water as they watch and wait for prey.
The sand tiger shark may look terrifying, but they are known to be relatively easygoing.
