COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) - An investigation is underway on Edisto Beach following a Saturday afternoon fire.

The fire happened in a gated area off Planters Retreat in Jeremy Cay. Video from a witness showed a large home engulfed in flames.

Specific details regarding the fire were not immediately available; however, News 2 is working to confirm information with the Town of Edisto Fire Department.

KC Campbell, public information officer for Colleton County Fire Rescue, said the agency assisted by sending firefighter-paramedics to the scene.

He said three people were taken to the Medical University of South Carolina; one was airlifted and two others were taken by ambulance.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed to News 2 that it was actively investigating the fire.
