CASS COUNTY, Mich. — A teen who went missing from a Cass County campground was pronounced dead on Saturday, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).

Deputies said around 9:05 a.m., they responded to the Willow Shores Campground on US-12 in Porter Township for a report of a missing teen who had walked away from his camper.

CCSO said the missing boy, Kyle, was 16 years old. His family told deputies that he had autism.

Deputies and medical responders from the Southeast Public Safety Authority, CCSO's Marine Division, the Porter Township Fire Department and the Indian Lake Fire Department searched the campground and in the water at Baldwin Lake.

K-9 Britton, the CCSO Drone Team and MedFlight helicopter also helped with the search.
