A bicyclist is dead and police are are searching for a culprit after an apparent hit-and-run on Loudon Road on Friday evening.

Concord Police and Fire personnel responded to area of the Irving gas station at 231 Loudon Road shortly after 7 p.m. to investigate a collision between a motor vehicle and a bicycle, according to a Saturday morning news release. Responders learned that the vehicle had left the scene, officials said.

The bicyclist was taken to Concord Hospital, where they later died, according to the report. Officials did not name the bicyclist.

Loudon Road was closed for several hours while authorities investigated.

Police are asking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crash, specifically people driving near the Irving state between 7 and 7:10 p.m.
