CHICAGO (WGN) - A popular North Side restaurant was heavily damaged after a car plowed into it Friday night.
Quick Bite had just closed and its owner was headed home when the phone rang.
"Destroyed," owner Tom Athanasakos said. "Completely destroyed."
Chicago police said a blue BMW was traveling southbound on Western Avenue just before 10 p.m. Friday when it hit a silver Honda traveling north on Western Avenue. The BMW then slammed into the Quick Bite restaurant.
"We live right in the neighborhood and heard a very loud screeching, slamming on brakes, horns and then a large crash," area resident Ryan McNicholas said.
The man behind the wheel of the BMW and a 17-year-old female passenger were hospitalized, while the driver of the Honda declined treatment by paramedics on scene.
