MILAN – Milan’s girls swimming team got time off for good behavior.
With the school’s homecoming dance looming in a few hours, Dan Heikka let his girls leave early on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The coach could afford to be magnanimous after the Big Reds dominated the Monroe County Championships in their home pool.
Milan finished with 592 points, which was 125 points better than anyone else in the field.
Monroe was second with 467, followed by Bedford (429), Dundee (386), Erie Mason-Ida (208) and St. Mary Catholic Central (155).
“We swam incredibly well,” Heikka said. “We knew we were real solid (to win the team title), so we set time goals and the girls hit them all the way down the board.”
