DALLAS — Three years ago, Melissa Obuch, founder of MamaBird, said she couldn’t have imagined that sharing diapers with a few struggling parents would grow into a local movement.

But it sure has.

“Back then, I was just a mom who noticed what too many of us already knew, but rarely said aloud — diapers, wipes, and period supplies, so basic — were still out of reach for many families here in Luzerne County,” Obuch said.

So what began as neighbors helping neighbors has grown into MamaBird — a nonprofit that now serves as a lifeline for thousands.
