LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky lawmaker is pledging to introduce new legislation regarding public school districts using taxpayer dollars to hire lobbyists.

Rep. Vanessa Grossl announced her plan to introduce the legislation on social media . Her post included a link to a WKYT Investigates story about an FCPS contract with a lobbying firm.

Rep. Grossl represents parts of Fayette and Scott Counties.

Friday, WKYT Investigates reported that Fayette County Public Schools paid a lobbying firm $38,000 to promote a failed tax increase without informing all board members about the contract.

The contract was with Piper Smith, a lobbying, public relations, and crisis communications firm.
