LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A former University of Virginia running back was honored at the University of Louisville game Saturday, who played host to Virginia.

The last time Perris Jones was on the field was in November 2023, when he was the running back for Virginia as they went head-to-head with the Cards.

It was during that game that Jones suffered a life-altering spine injury.

About halfway through the third quarter, Jones caught a pass in space and turned up field. That's when he collided with a Louisville defender and went down.

Jones had to be stretchered off the field and rushed to UofL Health.

One of the UofL team physicians on the sidelines that day was Dr. Brittney Richardson, who rushed to get Jones to the ER.
