When Prince Harry eventually met up with his father King Charles for tea, many thought it would mark the beginning of healing their relationship. The encounter represented the first occasion they had met face-to-face since the monarch received his cancer diagnosis in early 2024, with scant information emerging about their discussion beyond the fact they shared tea.

Nevertheless, reports have now indicated that Harry perceived the encounter as quite stiff and presented a gift to his father - thought to be a framed photograph of his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Yet this resulted in Harry releasing a scathing statement through his spokesperson, responding to the report by claiming "sources are intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son".
