A man has been arrested after a number of shots were fired in the inner-west Sydney suburb of Croydon Park, injuring four people.

NSW Ambulance said one person was taken to the Canterbury Hospital with a gunshot wound, with paramedics treating another person at the scene.

Two people also arrived at Campsie Police Station with what the ambulance service described as minor injuries.

About 9.30pm AEDT a man was arrested in a building on Georges River Road, where police seized his firearms, NSW Police said in a statement.

Officers could be heard telling someone to "put your hands up" and "get down" during the man's arrest.
