STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Three men died in a horrific single-car crash on the Staten Island Expressway before the sun rose Sunday morning.
Police received a 911 call reporting the single-car crash at 4:19 a.m., after a 2015 Chevy Cruise heading New Jersey-bound slammed into a barrier and flipped, according to a spokesperson for the NYPD.
The overturned car came to rest off the roadway near the exit for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway (440).
All three men in the car, ages 25, 26 and 27 were declared dead on the scene by emergency medical responders, police said.
The NYPD spokesperson said that they have not yet identified which of the three men were driving, saying that the driver “failed to navigate the roadway.”
