Two involved in cross-border smuggling module held with 2.5 kg heroin, 5 pistols

Amritsar (Punjab), October 5, 2025: In an intelligence-led operation amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar has busted a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module with links to Pakistan with arrest of its two operatives and recovered 2.5 kg heroin and five sophisticated pistols from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.

Those arrested have been identified as Gurjant Singh, a resident of village Dholan in Tarn Taran and Gurvel Singh, resident of village Chhina Bidhi Chand in Tarn Taran. The recovered weapons include
