Longtime Mexico and Chivas forward Omar Bravo was arrested on Saturday for alleged child sexual abuse, prosecutors said.
Bravo was arrested in a suburb of Guadalajara "for his alleged responsibility in the crime of aggravated child sexual abuse," the Jalisco State Attorney General's Office said in a statement.
The office added that the 45-year-old "allegedly abused a teenage girl on several occasions in recent months and is presumed to have previously committed similar acts."
Bravo is set to appear in front of the court that issued the warrant imminently.
After making his Chivas debut in 2000, Bravo went on to become the club's all-time leading scorer with 160 goals across all competitions.
Bravo won a Liga MX title, Copa MX and Supercopa MX across three separate spells with the Guadalajara club.
The forward also had spells with Deportivo La Coruña (2008-09), Tigres (2009), Sporting Kansas City (2011), Cruz Azul (2012), and Atlas (2013). He returned to the United States with NASL sides North Carolina FC (2016) and Phoenix Rising (2017) before coming out of retirement to play for Leones Negros (2019).
Bravo earned 67 caps for the Mexico national team, scoring 15 goals. He scored two goals in Mexico's 3–1 victory over Iran at the 2006 World Cup, and was a part of Gold Cup-winning sides in 2003 and 2009.
