AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A 25-year-old was fatally shot Sunday morning after he was unintentionally caught in the crossfire of two unknown suspects.

According to a release from Akron Police, at around 12:25 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of West Market Street for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators learned the 25-year-old was caught in the crossfire of two unknown suspects and was unintentionally struck.

Akron Police detectives continue to conduct interviews and collect evidence.
