COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person was killed after they were hit by a vehicle Saturday night in north Columbus , police said.

Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called around 8:55 p.m. to the intersection of Morse Road and Indianola Avenue on a report of a pedestrian struck.

Police said a vehicle was driving westbound on Morse Road near Indianola Avenue when a pedestrian stepped out into the roadway, hitting the vehicle.

A dispatcher for the city’s public safety department said the person was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition, where they were later pronounced dead.

No additional details about what led to the crash were immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
