Snoring is increasing dramatically across Britain – because people are getting fatter . ‌

Research shows that obese people are more likely to suffer from obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) – where the upper airway collapses during sleep and affects breathing – because they have more fatty tissue in their neck. ‌

In 2020, a third of people aged 30 to 69 were waking up, up to 40 times a night, often with a snort or gasp because of OSA. ‌

By 2035, that figure is predicted to reach 45% and it’s likely to climb even more.
