BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Louisiana State Police are investigating two separate overnight crashes that killed two people in East Feliciana and Ascension parishes over the weekend.

The first crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, on U.S. 61 south of LA 964 in Jackson. Troopers said a 2020 Toyota RAV4 was traveling south when it ran off the right side of the road, entered a ditch, and hit a culvert.

LSP said Sentoria Roundtree, 35, of St. Francisville, was a passenger in the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
