HOUSTON (KIAH) — A man was shot and killed by police officers after he shot several rounds from an AR-15 automatic rifle at his home in north Houston on Sunday.

Houston assistant police chief Yasser Bashir said that officers were called to the 5800 block of Hartwick Road around 8 a.m. Sunday after a call of someone firing a weapon. Three officers arrived at the scene and saw the suspect in his driveway and told him to drop his weapon.

The suspect didn’t comply with the officers’ directions and two of the officers fired their weapons, hitting the suspect, Bashir said. The officers applied first aid to the suspect as Houston Fire EMS officials arrived at the scene, but the suspect was declared dead at the scene.
