HOUSTON (KIAH)– It’s a homecoming for local food and the farmers who grow it. The Common Market Texas officially celebrated the grand reopening of its Houston food hub on Friday, cutting the ribbon on a facility designed to connect sustainable family farms directly to the communities that need them most.
“We are committed to strengthening the local food economy and providing an urban marketplace for rural farms,” said Jeremy Logan, Executive Director for The Common Market Texas.
The nonprofit distributor's mission is to bridge the gap between urban neighborhoods and fresh, local food, while supporting farmers who lead the way in building a more equitable and resilient food system.
Co-Director of Common Market Texas, Haile Johnston, said during the ceremony that they chose Houston after
